Paul Komarek is Black Valley Tactical’s Chief Instructor, with over 25 years of firearms training under his belt. Paul is a military veteran, competitive shooter (NRA, IPSC, USPSA), NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, CCW Instructor, Range Safety Officer, and personal firearms trainer.

When not on the range, Paul works as a nurse and professional photographer. His photography can be seen at PaulKomarek.com and you can oftentimes find him photographing shooting competitions around Ohio.

Paul primarily shoots an STI DVC Limited .40 caliber pistol for USPSA competitions and a Smith & Wesson Model 41 .22LR pistol for bullseye competitions. Be sure to check out a video of Paul rapid firing the Model 41… ACCURATELY!

Ivan Komarek, Instructor

The second half of Team Komarek is Ivan Komarek. New to pistol shooting competitions, Ivan has quickly become fast and accurate in both bullseye and USPSA type matches, favoring the Ruger Mark IV Competition pistol as his firearm of choice.

Born and raised in Russia, Ivan is trilingual in English, Russian, and Ukrainian.

Ivan handles many of the day-to-day operations at Black Valley Tactical and is highly skilled in setting up pistols for competition as well as refurbishing and rebuilding old, broken, or dirty firearms.
